Defining the Essential Question

1. What is your EQ?
What is the best way to treat a child that has been abused?

2. Define the words in your EQ to make sure we are on the same page regarding what your EQ means.
         Best: most successful
Treat: to psychologically deal/work with a patient
Abused: any form of abuse whether it be emotional, physical, sexual or neglect

3. What are some possible answers to your EQ so far?
-By letting them talk about what they are feeling in an enclosed environment(one on one)
-By working with them in a group of children that have all lived the same or similar experiences
-By helping them join extracurricular activities to get their minds off of the things that had happened to them

4. What has been your most important source and why?  Be specific.  If it is a person, name them and what they do, if it is an article, book or video, name the title and author.
I truly believe that as of right now my most important source would be a book called Understanding Child Abuse and Neglect by Cynthia Crosson-Tower. This book has honestly helped me understand many things about child abuse and what it is, it has different statistics about child abuse and it also shows some ways that therapists work with abused children. This book has helped me and I'm more than sure that it will continue to help me.
